Dr. Ha-Phuong Tran is an optometrist that joined Northern Virginia Ophthalmology Associates more than 10 years ago. She graduated with a B.A. from the University of Virginia and a B.S. and O.D. from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Dr. Tran earned her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Virginia and her Doctor of
Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. She gained clinical experience during rotations at Allegheny-Hahnemann University Hospital and The Eye Institute at PCO. Dr. Tran graduated near the top of her class, having earned several academic scholarships and was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa and Gold Key Honor Societies. She is board-certified in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia and is a member of the American Optometric Association.
Dr. Tran has been a practicing optometrist in the Washington, DC and Northern Virginia area since 1998. She has worked with many of the most highly regarded ophthalmologists in the area and has served on staff at the Department of Ophthalmology at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC where she performed contact lens fittings on children, including infants, for congenital eye conditions and trauma. At the other end of the spectrum, she has also provided comprehensive eyecare onsite to residents at a local assisted-living facility.
Dr. Tran joined NVOA in 2001. She performs comprehensive eye exams and diagnoses and treats many ocular conditions. She possesses extensive experience in fitting all types of cosmetic contact lenses, including gas permeables, multifocals, and lenses for high prescriptions and astigmatism. Dr. Tran is especially recognized as a specialist in therapeutic contact lens fittings for keratoconus, post-surgical, and ocular trauma, having fit thousands of patients of all ages to help them restore their sight. She has also lectured to fellow optometrists as well as ophthalmology fellows and residents on the subject.
Dr. Tran grew up in Northern Virginia. She is fluent in Vietnamese. In her spare time, she enjoys photography and cooking, but most of all, spending time with her family.
