
Dr. Noureen Khan is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in the medical and surgical management of glaucoma and cataracts. She has extensive expertise in the evaluation and treatment of glaucoma, including laser procedures and modern minimally invasive glaucoma surgery techniques. As a comprehensive ophthalmologist, she also cares for patients with routine and complex cataracts, diabetic eye disease, age related eye conditions, and a wide range of other ocular disorders.
Dr. Khan serves as Head of Clinical Research at Northern Virginia Ophthalmology Associates, where she leads and participates in advancing innovative treatments in eye care. She has served on the Financial Committee of the American Glaucoma Society and is a consultant speaker in the field of glaucoma and cataract surgery. She is actively involved in clinical research and is committed to bringing the most current, evidence based treatments to her patients.
Dr. Khan graduated summa cum laude from an accelerated six-year medical program at Case Western Reserve University and Case Western Reserve School of Medicine, majoring in Chemistry with a minor in French Literature. She spent a year studying in Paris at the Sorbonne and is fluent in French. She completed her ophthalmology residency at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, followed by an intensive glaucoma surgery fellowship at Northwestern University in Chicago, where she performed over a thousand cataract and glaucoma procedures.
She previously served on faculty at Loyola University Chicago prior to moving home to the DMV. Dr. Khan has authored multiple scientific publications and has presented her research nationally at meetings including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Glaucoma Society. She has volunteered internationally in Guatemala performing cataract and glaucoma surgery, and locally through free eye clinics with the Lions Eye Club and the ADAMS Center.
Dr. Khan is known for her thoughtful, thorough approach and her commitment to treating each patient as an individual. What Dr. Khan enjoys most about treating glaucoma is the long term relationships she builds with her patients and the privilege of caring for them over time, helping preserve vision and quality of life for years to come.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, attending F45 workouts, gardening, indulging in good chocolate, and embracing her love for all things French!
